Braiding CAT5 as speakercable

(...altijd leuk, hobbies... red.)

...of course, you need *lots* of UTP to begin with...

trying to get an environment for easy braiding :-)

the first braided cable and my new speakerstand, from IKEA, model:Gaje, 2 stands for 25 euro...

an actionshot :-)

I needed to strip the UTP before it fitted *through* the speakerstand...

...I chose this cable also for its looks :-)

my rear setup (there's an amp against the wall, but that's for my workstation (you can see it's speakers under the table) so that has nothing to do with my 'serious' audio-setup

my front setup...

...and how does it sound? well, I've been listening to the rears alone for a while and I can say it somehow surprises me. It's hard to describe, but imho it definately sounds better than before, more crisp, more clear... I'm sure I'm gonna fit my frontspeakers with the same cable :-)

only a couple of hours later, I also finished the cable for my fronts...

...and of course, fitted them immediatly

uhm, you better never look behind a mans stereo...

...and after fitting 90 meters of UTP CAT5 into my livingroom it's goodbye to my good-old standard speakercable!
